Rapierstar breaks dispatch record with first £100,000 day

Door and window fastener specialist Rapierstar has passed another major milestone on its path to record growth, by exceeding more than £100,000 of dispatches in a single day for the first time.

The company is on track for sales growth of 25% this year as it responds to a customer base increasingly seeking the high quality screws delivered on time in short lead times. Rapierstar has invested more than £5m in increased stockholding and in the infrastructure of its 100,000 sq ft Cheshire bonded warehouse and distribution centre, and customer order volumes are certainly responding, the firm said.

“When you consider the tiny unit price of a screw, £100,000 worth of screws is a huge volume to sell and dispatch in just one day," said David Furness, Group Managing Director. "It’s a milestone we’ve reached ahead of our target and reflects what we are seeing in the market, with fabricators seeking to improve efficiency with a supply chain they can depend on.

“Our £100,000 record was broken with lots of normal customer orders, individually picked and dispatched from our central warehouse and did not include pre-ordered, direct delivery containers, that create even larger daily sales figures!”

Rapierstar now holds a stock of more than one billion fasteners at its bonded warehouse near Macclesfield, which ensures fabricators and installers across the UK and Ireland can benefit from access to a complete product range, competitively priced and delivered next day. This service is backed by technical support which helps customers select the right fasteners for a specific application. The Rapierstar team has a collective experience in the fastener market of more than 150 years, supported further by their in-house R&D and technical centre.

Furness added: “Your supply chain is only as strong as the weakest link, so we’ve set ourselves up to ensure fastener supply is not the cause of production delays or – even worse – customers having to substitute the correct fasteners for ones that are unsuitable and could be detrimental to the finished window or a door’s integrity. The fact that we’re now delivering orders in full, error free, on more than 99.4% of occasions demonstrates the success of our approach.”
