MacDermid Enthone is showcasing how its portfolio of high-performance coatings and unique quality assurance programme, ZinKlad, meet future automotive manufacturing challenges at Fastener Fair USA.
FF USA 2019 is currently taking place in Detroit, Michigan, and runs 22-23 May. At booth 1015, MacDermid is displaying its range of ZinKlad coatings for anti-corrosion:
ZinKlad 750
This coating combines a homogeneous metallic tin-zinc deposit with a trivalent chromium passivate for electrical grounding applications, providing exceptional corrosion resistance and conductivity, while exhibiting excellent white corrosion resistance and no red rust after 23 cycles in the GMW 14872 cyclic corrosion test.
ZinKlad 1000
This coating offers more control over application thickness compare to conventional organic coatings, and a reduction in hydrogen embrittlement. It can be used with extensive applications in brake calipers, fasteners and fluid transfer tubes.
ZinKlad 1000 B
A high-performance zinc-nickel based coating with a uniform glossy black appearance, this coating has aesthetic appeal and corrosion resistance. This technology is specified by global manufacturers such as Ford, Renault and VW-Audi.
ZinKlad 1000 B-HG & 1000 B-EXP
With the same high gloss black finish and excellent corrosion resistance of the ZinKlad 1000 B, these technologies offer an exceptionally consistent coefficient of friction of 0.11 and 0.12 respectively.
Lammert de Boer, Global Director of ZinKlad, DecoKlad and XMAPP at MacDermid, will be taking part in the expert panel at FF USA and also give a presentation at the Tech Talks Theatre today on the importance of more robust quality systems.
He said: "Innovations and surface treatment products are paramount for ensuring that the safety, longevity and aesthetics of a fastener are optimised. Today's global market means that surface coatings can be sourced from different geographical locations, which can create challenges around consistency and undermine confidence in the quality of end products.
"The ZinKlad quality assurance programme and range of high-performance anti-corrosion coatings addresses these concerns and maintains the highest standards, by bringing together a specialised network of approved coating applicators who offer mentorship and technical support to assist unrivalled global consistency no matter where in the world the coating is applied."
