Kingfisher launches Castorama Poland e-commerce marketplace

Kingfisher has launched a home improvement e-commerce marketplace at Castorama Poland. The new platform will introduce over 500,000 products from verified third-party merchants to its e-commerce channels, significantly increasing the product range available to customers. These additions will complement the 50,000 products already offered directly by Castorama Poland.

The marketplace enables merchants to boost their visibility by aligning with Castorama Poland’s trusted and well-established brand. They will also benefit from exposure on the retailer’s high-traffic website, which attracts up to seven million visitors each month, as well as access to retail media solutions provided by Kingfisher.

This launch builds on the success of Kingfisher’s marketplaces at B&Q in the UK, Brico Dépôt in Spain and Portugal, Castorama in France and its Koçtaş joint venture in Turkey.

Kingfisher launched its first marketplace at B&Q in March 2022. By October 2024, marketplace sales accounted for 41% of B&Q’s total e-commerce sales. The second marketplace followed in November 2022 at Brico Dépôt in Spain and Portugal, reaching 22% of e-commerce sales by the end of October 2024. The third, introduced at Castorama France in March 2024, is also showing promising early results.

Kingfisher emphasised that all third-party merchants will be selected by Castorama experts and undergo a thorough verification process to ensure they meet Castorama’s quality and ethical standards.

“The launch of Castorama Poland’s marketplace marks a significant milestone in our journey to accelerate e-commerce,” said David Gomez Cardona, Group Marketplace Director at Kingfisher. “Offering customers greater choice is essential in the digital age, especially in the home improvement sector, and our marketplaces enable us to rapidly expand our product range.”

Last December, Kingfisher announced that it had sold Brico Dépôt Romania to a Romanian retail company Altex Romania.
