STAFDA introduces Young Professionals Luncheon at 2017 Convention

A special luncheon will be held for STAFDA members 35 years and younger at this year's STAFDA Convention, which takes place at the Austin Convention & Trade Show, 12-14 November.

The new Young Professionals Luncheon feature, held 12 November, is designed to introduce like-minded Millennials to each other and is one of a number of new features at the annual members-only show. Also fresh to the STAFDA Convention is a Speed Interviewing session with upper classmen from Purdue University, Texas A&M, and the University of Texas/Austin. The students will either have an industrial distribution or construction management major. Students will submit their resumes to be posted in the members-only section of www.stafda.org for member review. The Speed Interviewing is open to STAFDA distributors, manufacturers, and rep agents.

Finally, as the Trade Show element continues to grow, the footprint of some exhibitors has grown to epic proportions. STAFDA said it wants to unclog aisles and break up the inline look for a cleaner show. In order to do this, STAFDA will be offering 50’x50’ Island Booths. The island booths for Austin will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis and strategically placed throughout the hall.

STAFDA will host a high-energy Opening Block Party, both inside and outside Austin City Limits (ACL) to kick off its Convention & Trade Show. Sunday evening, November 12, part of 2nd Street outside ACL will be closed for STAFDA attendees to take advantage of street dining from food trucks ranging from tacos, BBQ, to local favorite hot and crunchy cones filled with chicken, shrimp, or avocado. The W Hotel, adjacent to ACL and the Block Party, will fire up their patio grills to serve-up flank steak, brisket, and tenderloin.

It will be STAFDA’s (The Specialty Tools & Fasteners Distributors Association's) 41st Annual Convention & Trade Show, open to members only. For more information on the STAFDA Convention & Trade Show or membership, please contact Catherine Usher, cusher@stafda.org, 262/784-4774 or 800/352-2981.
