HECO-Schrauben has got involved in a local community project that has now come to fruition in Titisee-Neustadt, in the Black Forest, Germany.
Last summer, the citizens of Titisee-Neustadt responded to a call to action to renovate a local pond and install two wooden jetties. Many enthusiasts – both professionals and DIY experts got involved, including local interest group "Interessengemeinschaft Eisweiher" which was keen to ensure that the volunteers had fastening materials that would enable them to work quickly and easily. HECO-Schrauben from Schramberg, 50km away, provided everything the volunteer team required for the installation – complete with useful tips and test specimens.
The pond at the heart of Titisee-Neustadt in Baden-Württemberg has always been a popular spot with locals in both the summer and in the winter, when it's used as a skating rink. Because the pond overflow was in need of repair, the town decided to redesign the entire pond area. The municipality was keen to get local citizens involved in the project – both at the planning stage and in its practical implementation.
The 30 metre-wide and 100 metre-long pond now has a shallow area at its southern end making the shore safe for children to play on in view of the adjacent playground. Directly next to the wooden jetty on the eastern bank, there is now a small waterfall that flows over the rocks bordering the shore. The pond now boasts two wooden jetties along with the permanently installed lounger chairs. The 12 month building project was completed in the summer of 2017.
