New ergonomics, dust regulations and impact ratings are all areas of interest in Torque’s latest drills and drilling bits round-up.
Heller Tools
With health protection an increasingly important aspect of the modern construction site, alongside the implementation of stringent workplace dust regulations, Heller Tools has produced the Duster Expert hammer drill.
The Duster Expert sucks up around 98% of the drilling dust on the drill head, reducing the dust burden on the user and keeping the occurrence of ambient dust to a minimum. The suction function means complicated cleaning of the drill hole is no longer necessary, which ultimately saves time.
A side effect of this technology is low drilling resistance, while the robust design of the drill head and shaft also ensures long tool life. The extra-large head openings characterise the drill’s speed. According to Heller, it is the first manufacturer in the world to have included a suction drill with a minimum diameter of 6mm in its product range. The Duster Expert is available in the versions SDS-plus (6-24mm) and SDS-max (14-40mm)

Milwaukee
Offering the first impact-rated step drill bit on the market, Milwaukee’s Impact Duty Step Bits allow users to drill faster and maximise productivity, optimised to work the M18 Fuel FID2 Impact Driver. According to Milwaukee, there has been a growing demand for impact rated accessories in the market and as a result the company has produced a step drill that utilises its proven Shockwave technology, capable of absorbing 226 N.m of torque from the Generation 3 M18 Fuel Impact Driver. The compact 117mm body allows users to access tighter spaces and work comfortably overhead, maximising adaptability on the jobsite.
The ¼ inch hex shank has an optimised ‘Shockzone’ body with a Titanium Aluminium Nitride coating which delivers up to five times longer tool life. The step drill bit's Rapid Strike tip and dual spiral flute produces holes twice as fast, without having to drill a pilot hole.
Milwaukee’s 1/8 - ½ inch step bit features 13 steps with laser engraving for a clear stop on size identification.
This, partnered with the 3600 rpm of the Milwaukee Impact driver, gives users a substantial package for pushing productivity.
