fischer fixings UK held a press event at the start of the month to reflect on the business done year to date and to highlight future plans in 2018.
During the session, fischer covered new products and noted construction industry's sustained period of steady growth and bright outlook. Journalists from some of the largest UK and international magazines attended the morning briefing followed by an afternoon of Eventing at the world-renowned Burghley Horse Trials. The morning briefing highlighted the full scope of the fischer group and its global operation. Not just purely focused on the fixings manufacturing but also with their Automotive, Consulting and Educational toy sectors of the business.
In 2017, fischer fixings developed and launched two innovative new products, the Ultracut Concrete Screw and the fischer Duopower. Head of Technical in the UK, Mirka Valovicova, focused on the two products during her presentation highlighting the design and technical power of the two. The Ultracut offers what fischer said is unrivalled load resistance and unique cutting teeth to make installation for the user as easy and as safe as possible. The DuoPower's intelligent activation principle has "revolutionised the simple wall plug” by combining two component materials that when activated will fold, knot or expand. This system allows the plug to be used in almost any substrate safely, so users don’t need to know what they are fixing into.
fischer UK MD Justin White spoke about fischer UK specifically and about the journey the business has been on in the past four years. Having set double digit growth as a standard during his time as MD he is expecting to beat his own target in 2017 with great sales this year. This has been boosted by recent product launches and an expansion of the external sales and internal support teams. The target now for fischer UK is expansion, not only in its product ranges but from the inside of the business.
Plans to increase revenues by 100% since 2012 have been set out, but such aspirations will need a strong and developed internal infrastructure, the firm said. fischer UK has invested heavily on the internal functions of the business, which they believe propel them deep into the use of “future technologies” and ahead of the curve. fischer UK has invested in new state of the art phone systems and customer contact tools to bring them closer to the customer and to reduce the “effort” involved in everyday business.
The afternoon involved a trip to the prestigious Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials. As fischer sponsor the three-time Olympic Gold Medallist Michael Jung, it was a fitting end to the day. Michael Jung gave the group the opportunity to walk the Cross Country course with him whilst being open to questions about his personal life, history of eventing and the trials themselves.
