This March, Messe Stuttgart will play host to the eighth Fastener Fair Stuttgart. If you’re planning a trip, here’s a guide to some of the must-see stands and products at this year’s show…
Hexstone
Hall 3, Stand 1936
No matter what form Brexit takes (and at time of press we still don’t know) the UK fastener industry will be represented at Fastener Fair Stuttgart, not least by Hexstone, the sector’s largest player in Britain. It’s trading divisions Owlett-Jaton, STF and Icon, each with their own product focus, will be there to meet customers and explain the ranges and services available.
With a comprehensive (and growing) range of products on offer, Hexstone is firmly open for business post-UK’s withdrawal from the EU, across the UK, Ireland, Europe and the rest of the globe. That exhaustive range of products includes fasteners, fixings in carbon, stainless and high-grade steels, with new products being continually added to the mix. Notable recent launches include the Vortex TX, an offshoot off the pozi drive Vortex screw. Like the original screw, the Vortex TX is a high quality multipurpose screw recognised for its premium quality and tailored product features. The new TX recess variation helps reduce cam-out, offers more grip and an even better drive (see our wood screws feature in Torque February 2019).
The extensive JCP range of construction fixings will be on display. JCP offers a wide range of products to suit a variety of applications including metal and chemical anchors. Quality is key, with products supported by full technical details, European Type Approvals (ETA’s) and CE marking. JCP also provides an Anchor Calculation Program which allows users to determine which anchors they need across a wide range of applications.
Unifix will also be a focus, with over 1,250 products to choose from in formats specially designed to suit trade counters with a full merchandising programme to support the brand. Formats include the trade bag, the eye-catching branded packaging is robust, re-sealable, drop-proof, water resistant, easy to identify and an ideal size to carry. The retail bag is similar, only in small pack quantities suited to retail. Finally, the comprehensive Unifix branded ironmongery range includes door, gate and lock furniture and accessories.
Other brands from the Hexstone stable being showcased in Stuttgart include Thunderbolt, the self-tapping anchor with the power to be used on a whole range of construction materials, including concrete, stone, brick and block. The versatile anchor is also available in galvanised format, giving it the added power to last longer in environments with a corrosive atmosphere, such as coastal, marine and industrial locations.
Hexstone will showcase services including its comprehensive ‘specials’ service that includes special product from drawings and a wide range of finishes and patching for customers.
Hexstone’s impressive stock line-up with over 30,000 products, including those brands and many proprietary brands, are backed by large stocks and efficient operations. Hexstone’s experienced and knowledgeable staff will be on hand at the show where the firm will also be on the look-out for European partners for its brands.
GESIPA
Hall 1, Stand 730
At this year’s Fastener Fair Stuttgart, GESIPA will introduce what it says is the world’s first networkable riveter that is designed for Industry 4.0. Another novelty to be presented is a workstation on which visitors can experience features and applications of GESIPA’s high quality fasteners and tools.
iBird is not just a riveting tool: GESIPA extended its Bird Pro series with a networked battery-powered setting tool, the iBird Pro. This device has been specifically designed for integration into IoT/Industry 4.0 and for lean production environments.
The iBird Pro App can be downloaded from the GESIPA website FOC. It keeps you informed about setting processes as well as the operating status of your setting tool at any time.
As an option, the iBird Pro can be equipped with a premium software package which provides a setting process assistant that supports the operator in analysing the results of the setting process.
GESIPA Blindniettechnik GmbH develops and manufactures blind rivets, blind rivet nuts and solid rivets as well as setting tools of a high-quality level. GESIPA operates on an international level, with short delivery routes to all its customers around the world, ensuring availability and service for its products. With its innovative overall system comprising fastener, setting tool and setting technique, GESIPA offers one-source complete solutions for trade and industry.

Bülte
Hall 1, Stand 1357
Bülte GmbH, is certified ISO 9001:2018 and has specialised in plastic protection products, Nylon and plastometal fasteners for more than 60 years, providing amongst the most suitable plastic solutions to clients from any industry around the world.
The product range is composed of more than 30,000, with a wide range of standard products in Polyamide, specific and innovative parts in various materials, and special parts based on customer specifications. Bülte’s washers, screws and nuts are close to the standards DIN, ISO and NFE. With extended warranty options and extensive testing capabilities, RivdomZERO will impress and be really big at the fair, VVG says.
The winner of the Fastener Fair award 2017, the RivSmart with intelligent control via app and other battery riveters (for example for structural blind rivets up to 8mm) will be available for demonstration. Visitors will also gain insights into modern process monitoring for pneumatic-hydraulic and cordless battery riveting tools. On site, it’s a
robust press for simple and reliable processing of self-clinching parts.
HONSEL Umformtechnik has been one of the leading manufacturers of high-quality blind riveting and fastening technology for almost 90 years and will inform stand visitors about the worldwide production capabilities of special parts for industrial serial production for the likes of blind rivet nuts and screws, HONSEL coil wire inserts or the captive
