Berardi Fasteners has won the “Negotiorum Fucina” prize, awarded by the Association of Italian Buyers and Supply Chain Management (ADACI) for the third consecutive year.
The 2019 edition was titled “Value Builders – Next Generation Procurement and Supply Management”. Berardi won the first prize with Project S-BBK 4.0, a hi-tech smart supply system that communicates the quantity of a given material electronically. This allows operators to constantly monitor material stocks and makes procurement automatic. When the quantity in a container goes below the point of reorder, the system generates an order that will be shipped regularly on set dates.
This is Berardi Fasteners' first major project in the Industry 4.0 era, the firm said, where information exchange costs time, money and influences the company’s perceived value. This new service complements Berardi’s offer of integrated logistics.
Berardi's award win comes as the fastener business is celebrating its centenary year.
