The third edition of Automechanika Birmingham starts next week and promises to focus on innovation in the automotive sector.
The ‘new look’ agenda for the show - which runs 5-7 June 2018 at the NEC, in Birmingham - will feature keynote presentations, panels, forums and seminars. The programme will complement the exhibition, which brings together over 500 suppliers and thousands of trade visitors.
One major coup for the show this year is the Women in Innovation panel, a Who’s Who of industry’s key influencers, chaired by Dr. Julia E. Saini, Global Vice President of Frost & Sullivan, which will feature contributions from top keynote speakers including Jo Lewis, Colours & Materials Design Manager of McLaren Automotive and Steph Savill, Founder of FOXY Lady Drivers Club, the UK’s fastest growing Motoring Club for women.
The programme will include an interactive showcase of cutting edge tech through the Motorsport Valley Innovation feature, Innovation Forum presentations, a dedicated area showcasing new tech in the Tomorrow's Mobility sector and an accompanying forum.
This year's show comes at a time of upheaval for the market with the onset of autonomous vehicles, electric car sector growth and diesel car sales decline. Speaking to Torque Magazine for our May issue, Marketing Manager Chloe Hyland said: "Automechanika Birmingham is a great platform to discuss the current challenges the industry is facing and gives an insight into what the future holds for the automotive aftermarket and vehicle production sector.
"The 2018 event will offer a raft of new initiatives to offer discussions on the hottest topics. Over +70 hours of seminars will cover the topics such as digitalisation, connectivity, GDPR, ADAS calibration, hybrid and electric vehicles, the impact of Brexit, skills shortage and much more! There are lots of other new features showcasing innovation including Tomorrow’s Mobility feature, sponsored by Innovate UK and Knowledge Transfer Network. This is a dedicated area showcasing all things forward looking – autonomy, ultra-low emissions, electrification and battery technology."
