GWI GmbH, a specialist in cold heading wire, has been in business for a quarter of a century, operating out of Iserlohn, North-Rhine Westphalia, Germany.
The business specialises in low-carbon, stainless-steel and alloyed wires, for tooling, rolling dies, forming presses, thread rolling machines and sorting machines as well as machine spare parts, repairs, overhauls and maintenance of machines used for cold forming.
GWI's wire business began in 1995 and since then has steadily increased its storage capacity to between 2,000 to 2,500 tons at its Iserlohn warehouse. The firm also offers to organise transport on behalf of its customers.
GWI has three key partners in cold heading wire with expertise in their specialist fields:
FN steel is placed in Alblasserdam, the Netherlands. FN Steel is not only a wire drawer, but the firm also has its own rolling mill. Manufactured grades are for example C10C; C15C; 20MnB4; 23MnB4, etc. The diameter range is from 2.00 to 30.00 mm.
Kos Wire has a number of plants globally, including seven in South-Korea, two in Vietnam, one in the USA and one in the Czech Republic.
In Lovosice (CZ) alone, there is a monthly output of 1,200 tons. The special field is stainless steel wire (e.g. 1.4016; 1.4301; 1.4567; 1.4578).
WintWire is a smaller wire drawer located near Sheffield in the UK. WintWire's wire business is focused on customer standards and it produces profiled wire, small quantities and exotic grades (carbon alloy-, stainless steel-, non ferrous wire etc).
