The BIAFD Spring meeting saw a record attendance of just over 100 delegates. Attendees were able network with one another and learn about important challenges facing the sector.
Discussions included further information on Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) as Jamie Mcleod of Crowe UK gave an overview of the initiative and explained the differences between EU and UK CBAM. Andrea Bertaggia of the European Fastener Distributor Association (EFDA) detailed the work EFDA is doing to support its members. David Kivlin of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) delivered the final session of the day, where he explained the role of inspectors and how the HSE’s investigation process works.
BIAFD chairman Ian Doherty then shared the association’s position on UK CBAM. “I’m pleased that BIAFD members were in support of our position. We’ll now work on a consultation response which will be shared with members so they can make their own submissions to government. Having an aligned position is vitally important so I’d like to thank Crowe UK for their advice, EFDA for their input, and BIAFD members for their support.”
