A Perry, manufacturers of the Perry Shield range of fire door locks, latches and hinges, has spoken out to support Fire Door Safety Week. This comes after industry finding suggest that 60% of local authorities delayed fire door maintenance, replacement and inspection programmes in the first half of 2020.
53% of local authorities state that Covid-19 was the reason behind the delays, leaving 9,954 properties affected. Only 4% of local authories plan to begin the postponed work by 2021.
Steve Perry, spokesperson for A Perry said : “Whilst the pandemic has forced a number of issues out of the spotlight, with more people working from home, fire doors play an even more crucial life-saving role at the moment and more attention must be brought to this issue.
“Fire Door Safety Week is helping to highlight these concerning statistics and encourage local authorities to minimise these potentially life-threatening delays. For those needing advice on fire door safety compliance, we are always glad to assist.”
Established in 2013, the #FDSW industry campaign is run by The British Woodworking Federation supported by the BWF Fire Door Alliance. The campaign works to highlight the importance of fire doors and good fire safety practice.
Additionally, the Perry Shield range provides a complete CE Marked and CERTIFIRE Approved range of fire door fittings and ironmongery for architects, designers, manufacturers, builders and installers. Each product is available in a range of finishes and with a fire rating of either 30, 60 or 120 minutes.
The Fire Door Safety Week runs from 21 September- 27 September.
