ForgeFix has created a portrait of the late actress Carrie Fisher - best known for her iconic role as Princess Leia in Star Wars - using woodscrews to raise cash for charity.
Earlier this year, the business donated a 1.2x1metre portrait of David Bowie using 4,000 woodscrews. It was sold at the NMBS Gala Dinner silent charity auction for £1,000 and the money went to CRASH - the construction industry charity which supports homeless and hospice charities with free advice, practical assistance and financial aid.
The tribute to the recently deceased actress has been created using over 5000 ForgeFast screws and enjoyed pride of place on the ForgeFix stand at the UK Construction Week (UKCW) exhibition 2017 last week. The portrait will soon be donated to NMBS so its sale can be used to raise funds for CRASH.
ForgeFix began creating the screw-based portraits of legends from the world of music, sport and film - which the business has dubbed ScrewsArt™ - as a unique and fun way of demonstrating the capabilities of its ForgeFast range.
ForgeFix Marketing Manager Brian Trevaskiss said: "When the Bowie ScrewsArt™ picture was auctioned for charity we were surprised and delighted by the level of demand for the portrait and by the subsequent amount of money it helped to raise for CRASH.
"We decided to build on that achievement with our latest piece, depicting the much-loved Princess Leia. Given the popularity of Star Wars and the pending release of the latest film in the franchise, ‘The Last Jedi', we're hoping our newest creation will prove even more popular - and raise even more money."
ForgeFix also created a second ScrewsArt™ picture for UKCW, of award-winning broadcaster, Steph McGovern. The portrait was given to Steph as a gift whilst she was at the exhibition to present her regular and roving BBC One Breakfast slot. She went on to praise the picture live on national TV.
