Newport Galvanizers welcomed the Prime Minister Theresa May to its site at Llanwern Works on Tuesday 25 April as part of the Conservative Party’s campaigning ahead of the 8 June General Election.
On her fifth visit to Wales in three months, the PM met with members of the Newport galvanizing team, was hosted to a tour of the plant’s facilities and spoke with members of the senior management team to learn about the firm’s ongoing growth and future plans.
Edward Saville, General Manager of Newport Galvanizers, explained: “Myself and the wider team were thrilled to welcome Theresa May to the plant – to have the opportunity to give her a full tour of the site, showcase the in-depth processes and procedures we apply here, and to learn about the history, as well as the future, of Newport Galvanizers.
“We also had the opportunity to learn first-hand from Theresa her plans in the run-up to, and post, General Election, as well as the ongoing negotiations around Brexit and how this may impact businesses like ours, who supply to clients overseas."
The plant regularly hosts tours of the site, with its recent collaboration with Had Fab Ltd last year welcoming 15 Construction Interface Engineers from National Grid.
