Manufacturing output from Singapore rose 10.2% in March 2017, compared like-for-like with the same month in 2016.
The new statistics from the Singapore Economic Development Board indicated that - when seasonally adjusted on a month-on-month basis - manufacturing output increased 5.0% in the month.
Precision engineering output was one of the star performers of the month, seeing expansion by 12.8% y-o-y in March 2017. The precision modules and components segment grew 15.7% with higher output of dies, moulds, tools, jigs & fixture, optical instruments and metal precision components. Output of the machinery & systems segment increased 11.2% and on a year-to date basis, while output of the precision engineering cluster rose 19.4% compared to the same period last year.
It wasn't all positive, however, with output of the general manufacturing industries cluster falling 5.1% in March 2017 on a year-on-year basis.
