TR Fastenings, global specialist in the design, engineering, manufacture and distribution of industrial fasteners, has passed an audit by the government's Cyber Essentials scheme.
This certification means that TR is now qualified to bid for government and other sensitive contracts, due to its cyber security standards. The Cyber Essentials scheme is designed to help UK organisations improve their defences and demonstrate publicly their commitment to cyber security.
By passing the audit requirements, TR has shown that it conforms to a set of baseline technical controls and measures to prevent and manage issues such as hacking, phishing and password guessing.
John Paton, Global Head of IT Security at TR's parent business, Trifast plc, said: "The protection of confidential data and information is something we take extremely seriously at TR. Our customers quite rightly want to work with partners that can be trusted to access and handle confidential or sensitive information and that have the measures in place to keep this data safe and secure.
"Having this certification demonstrates not only our credibility in that respect but also our dedication to quality and integrity when it comes to customer information."
TR also appointed an independent auditing body to assess its cyber security standards and conduct extra tests. The firm is now planning to undertake further tests to qualify for the next level of certification, Cyber essentials Plus, and is hoping to achieve this by 2020.
TR previously demonstrated its commitment to information security by gaining ISO 27001 certification for its IT service desk and technical teams in the UK in August, 2017.
