NORMA reopens distribution facilities for joining products for ventilators

NORMA has reopened distribution centres in Gavardo, Italy and Barcelona, Spain to supply joining products required in the manufacture of lung ventilators.

NORMA's Y plastic pipe connectors and taper thread connectors for lung respirators, as well as white cable ties for attaching hoses, are among the vital line of products the firm supplies to ventilator manufacturers.

In addition to the two re-opened distribution facilities, NORMA's centre in Marsberg, Germany has remained open throughout the disrupted period, which has seen coronavirus drastically change usual trading.

“With these urgently needed products, we are helping to maintain the manufacture of lung ventilators and supply hospitals with fastening products,” said Dr. Friedrich Klein, COO and board member. “Especially in the medical sector, it is currently essential to maintain the supply chain in order to provide the best possible care for Covid-19 patients. We are happy to be able to contribute to coping with the corona crisis with our products.”

In Italy and Spain, NORMA Group supplies the connection solutions to distributors whose end customers have been classified as essential by the authorities. Most of the products are manufactured in NORMA Group's plants in Germany and Portugal. The distribution centers of NORMA Group in Italy and Spain have been supplied continuously throughout the past few weeks, so that the plastic pipe connectors, taper thread connectors and cable ties are available in sufficient quantities. Customer orders for medical applications can therefore be processed quickly.

Internally, NORMA Group continuously takes all necessary steps to protect the health and safety of employees and to be prepared for various scenarios. Teams at global, regional and local levels ensure that measures are implemented in accordance with the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) as well as regional and local authorities. In addition to preventive measures and guidelines such as travel restrictions, hygiene measures and home office, emergency plans are being prepared and implemented. Furthermore, NORMA Group is continuously screening its supply chains regarding any potential impact. Together with its suppliers, the company has set up additional reporting activities to ensure a stable supply of material, services for the production and deliveries to customers.
