Fiat Chrysler recalls Ram 1500 truck due to loose fastener fears

A poorly connected single fastener has prompted Fiat Chrysler Automobiles to recall around 160,000 2019 Ram 1500 light-duty trucks in the US, plus a further 20,000 elsewhere in the world, according to CNET.

While no accidents or injuries have been reported, the fastener in question should complete the battery’s ground circuit which, if it has worked loose, could create an open circuit that might disable the power steering.

The automotive industry is the most impacted by product recalls, according to a report by Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty. Read more about that in Torque's April 2018 magazine.
