Eurobond has launched a new single component fire resistant MS Polymer adhesive, SafeFix FR300, for use in bonding materials used on construction and general manufacturing industries.
Since the Grenfell Tower tragedy in June 2017, the use of adhesives and sealants for bonding cladding, fixing and sealing stud partition walls, bonding and sealing dilation joints and other applications, have come under scrutiny. As a result, advancements in adhesive chemistry has led to new products being brought to market.
SafeFix FR300 is chemically resistant and permanently flexible, and when used as a sealant can counteract the spread of fire, smoke and toxic vapours. The adhesive has a fire resistance of up to four hours and is suitable for the fire-resistant adhesion of connection and dilation joints, with certifications for horizontal joints and connections to floor and ceiling with walls, wooden and steel casings, and all stud applications.
The product’s fire-resistance tests conform with EN1366-4 to 240 minutes in horizontal or vertical joints and measuring 30mm wide. Tests were conducted by the Peutz Laboratory for the determination of the fire resistance of several linear joints with SafeFix FR300 hybrid sealant in walls with elements of aerated concrete, steel, wood and gypsum, in accordance with the European standards.
An expert judgement was also made for connecting FR300 to a steel El60-construction. SafeFix is not suitable for PE, PP, PC, PMMA, PTFE, soft synthetics, neoprene and bituminous surfaces.
