2020's Amsterdam-set Global-DIY Summit will tackle technology disruptors

Next years' Global-DIY Summit will acknowledge that business is becoming ever more complex at a greater speed, thanks to increasing technology disruptors.

The popular roaming summit is taking place at the RAI Amsterdam 10-12 June (Dublin hosted in 2019) and is expected to attract over 1,100 exec managers from 50 countries.

'The new normal'

One of the key themes will be the pressure for businesses to be nimble - technology breakthroughs now happen every three to six months, compared with five to six years in the past. Technology disruptors are now so active that 'disruption is the new normal' according to the Summit organisers, who have made that the major theme of the summit.

Other key topics will include personalisation to help boost customer loyalty, the future of marketplaces and the rise of digital ecosystems, the future of corporate responsibility and collaborative culture in business.

Retail trends in the home improvement market will be tackled too: "In 2020, the market will be defined by emerging technologies that change the way consumers interact with their favorite brands, a shift in preferences, and the emergence of new battle lines for e-commerce."

The Summit organiser noted that there are five key trends in the home improvement industry (according to Forbes):

"1. DIYers are more likely to be Millennials
2. Over-inspiration is a key factor in home improvement regret
3. The rental housing market is on the rise
4. Remodeling activity isn’t slowing down anytime soon
5. With home wellness on the rise, the lighting industry is leading the way."
