Gesipa owner SFS buys German fastener business mbe

SFS has bolstered its fastening systems expertise with the acquisition of mbe - Moderne Befestigungselemente GmbH.

SFS has been active on the acquisition market this year, taking on USA located Triangle Fasteners Corporation in April.

mbe supplies painted fasteners for high performance facade systems. Based in Menden, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, the firm generated €10 million in sales in 2018, with just under 70 employees.

Extending SFS' market reach in central Europe, mbe largely supplies German specialty retailers with painted fasteners for ventilated facade systems. With long-standing specialist retailer relationships, mbe's expertise extends across painting technology and quick response and delivery times. Customers can customise the colour of the fasteners they order, including in smaller quantities with fulfilment within 24-48 hours.

The press statement said: "Acquiring mbe gives SFS direct access to specialty retailers for premium façade solutions. Customers and distribution partners of mbe will benefit from availability of the broad product range of SFS."

mbe will remain based in Menden and will join SFS' Construction division (in the Fastening Systems segment). The previous management will stay with the company throughout the transition period for continuity. The completion of the acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals.

The Fastening Systems segment has been a star performer for SFS.

Recently, SFS ranked first place in the Swiss Employer Awards and the group installed a new head of its Riveting Division.
