Atlas Copco’s continuing innovation into error-free and reaction-free tightening technology aligns with MTC’s mission to deliver bespoke manufacturing system solutions, in partnership with industry, academia and other institutions.
Membership of the Coventry-based MTC will enable Atlas Copco to further develop its ‘Smart Connected Assembly’ concept, which is focused on eradicating human error from the production line, as well as ensuring operator safety. The traceability of every tightening procedure is also facilitated by wireless connectivity, which links up to six tools to a single controller.
Atlas Copco’s new line-up of battery and DC-powered Low Reaction Tools features hydraulic pulse technology, rather than gears and an oil-filled chamber, which provides higher torque of up to 55Nm with vibration levels below the minimum standard. Delivering five million pulses before maintenance is required, LRTs can perform for up to five times longer between service intervals.
As part of its membership, Atlas Copco will be offering the supply of advanced tooling on specific projects requiring precision fastening, whilst gaining access to the world-class manufacturing facility in order to showcase its Smart Connected Assembly philosophy.
