Bosch UK sales reach £2.7 billion

Powertool specialist Bosch saw UK sales grow 6.3% to £2.7 billion for its overall business in 2015.

The UK is the second biggest European market for Bosch. The Consumer Goods section of its business – including cordless power tools and household appliances – saw an approximate increased in sales of 5%.

In its yearly financial report, Bosch singled out its strategic focus on the Internet of Things, which is expected to be a key focus area for growth across all of its divisions. The company also revealed that connected manufacturing practices, such as Industry 4.0, will be an increasing focus for Bosch in the UK. Bosch is working with Coventry’s Manufacturing Technology Centre to develop connected manufacturing solutions specific to UK manufacturers and train apprentices on this new tech.

“The UK is the second largest European market for Bosch, and one which we believe is well placed to achieve further growth in coming years,” said Bosch UK president Steffen Hoffmann. “We expect this to be driven by an increasing demand for connectivity in the Mobility Solutions and Energy and Building Technology sectors as well as a growing interest in Industry 4.0 from UK manufacturers.”

“A successful connectivity business must offer products and services that provide solutions to real everyday challenges and make life more comfortable and safe for companies and consumers alike,” said Steffen. “For example, energy costs and efficiency are becoming an increasingly significant competitive factor for UK manufacturers and private residents. It is all about improving the quality of life.

Bosch employs around 5,300 staff over 41 sites.
